When you arrive at Wood Estate, you are greeted by views of 30 acres of private formal gardens and woodland. If you are lucky, you may even be greeted by our friendly resident peacock! You can’t help but feel the instantly relaxing atmosphere. The waiting and reception area at Wood MediSpa is designed to feel more like a luxury manor house than a clinical hospital, reflecting its heritage as a Grade II*-listed Arts & Crafts mansion.

History of QueensWood

Renovations at Wood Estate began in 2008 with a big dream: a specialist centre to provide clinical excellence across its specialities. In 2021, after 12 years of extensive renovations, Wood MediSpa and QueensWood opened and welcomed our first patients.

The core of the project was converting the mansion into a CQC-registered private hospital, complete with a custom-designed operating theatre, dermatology suite (featuring advanced laser technology and a dedicated lab), recovery areas, and five in-patient hospital rooms. QueensWood operates from the ground floor of Wood MediSpa in a separate CQC registered area.

Throughout the meticulous conversion, original architectural features such as the panelling, parquet flooring, and plasterwork were retained to maintain the Arts & Crafts character while achieving a luxurious, clinical finish. The Grade I-listed gardens, designed by Mawson, were also gradually restored, contributing to the tranquil setting of the MediSpa on the edge of Dartmoor. We totally avoid a “production-line” feel, focusing on individual privacy in our quiet, peaceful environment.

Wood Estate is such a beautiful location for Wood MediSpa and QueensWood. With our carefully selected teams and investment in the very best state of the art technologies, we are a unique facility within the UK – and indeed worldwide.

Our cosmetic services include composite bonding, veneers, dental implants and tooth whitening or total smile restoration. Our general dentistry services include periodic treatment, root canal, surgical tooth extraction and composite filling. Direct Access Hygiene appointments are also available.
